Spray Silly String First—Tripwires Can’t Hide

Simple History ↗

From the creator

This video was made possible thanks to everyone on the Simple History Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/simplehistory IEDs often relied on a basic tripwire across a choke point—made thin and hard to see, typically positioned around shin level. That meant soldiers had to search entryways carefully, scanning top to bottom, sometimes across many rooms. The Silly String method changed the pace: shake the can outside, spray inside, and if it stays floating, it suggests a wire is keeping it up—without the weight needed to trigger an explosive. What other counter-IED techniques should we cover next?
