Meet our African penguins

From the creator

Curious to know what African penguins eat or why you don’t see snow or ice in our penguin exhibit? Come meet our African penguins and find out! While you may perceive that these tuxedo-plumed penguins are pretty phenomenal, you may not know that their wild counterparts are also endangered. The Aquarium and our partners at SANCCOB are working hard to save them. You can do your part too by eating sustainable seafood. Join Senior Aviculturist, Kim Fukuda, to learn more about how you can use the Seafood Watch guides to make responsible seafood choices for the future of African penguins. Special thanks to The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) for some of the footage used in this video.
