January 16: Intro + Opening Session

In a wide-ranging opening session, Reid Hoffman and Nicole Wong joined the Stanford teaching team, Rob Reich, Mehran Sahami, Jeremy Weinstein, and Hilary Cohen, to discuss an array of topics related to the ethical, social, and political dimensions of technological change. They explore the ethical reckoning in the technology industry, the geopolitical consequences of technological progress, policymakers’ ability to govern a society transformed by technology, and potential regulatory and reform approaches.
