Eagle Mating | From Nest to Fledge

From the creator

Bald Eagles generally bond with a mate for life, but will find a new mate if one passes. Eagles are capable of breeding from age 4. Breeding season picks up in December and January as pairs ramp up their nest work. Males will bring gifts of food to their mates. Both males and females have been known to initiate copulation. When it is time, a female will lean forward and allow her mate to perch on her back. The act lasts for 7-12 seconds. Pair dynamics can vary greatly from nest to nest, and researchers are still learning about eagle mating and nesting behavior. For example, sometimes a trio of adult eagles will raise chicks.
