A man draws on a card. Ed works at an office, where he is often teased by his goofy co-worker and office rival Jack. During a call, Jack's ribbing causes Ed to slip up and say something inappropriate on the phone. To get back at Jack, Ed draws a picture of that "something inappropriate" on Jack's farewell card. But Ed made a mistake -- he drew his racy doodle on the boss's sympathy card instead. And now he must backtrack and pick up the pieces to save face -- and possibly even his job. Directed by Antonio Orena-Barlin and written by Adam Dunn (who plays Ed) and Thomas Mitchell, this nimble, quick-witted comedic short is a masterwork of conciseness, timing and tempo, with writing, camera and performances all precisely locked in to set up and deliver a superbly structured joke. Starting with a brief, economical but vivid set-up, that sets up Ed as a mild-manner, somewhat hapless character wanting to get back at his breezy, confident and soon-to-be former co-worker Jack. But, true to his bumbling, retiring nature, Ed's attempts at payback fumble, and his attempts to repair a potentially disastrous situation prove hilarious. Ed bumbles along, and while he's occasionally a little slow on the uptake, the storytelling never is. Shot with a gleaming, ironic corporate sheen and pulled along at a crackling pace by the editing, Ed tries to exert himself heroically to intercept the offensive doodle, relayed in an operatic sequence that exaggerates the distance Ed must travel to save
